PEARSON BEACH | BRUNSWICK HEADS
Fulfilling two briefs for two clients in one project, the Pearson Beach Apartments are a singular achievement in adaptable, functional and coherent architecture. Creating two modern apartments which can function separately and be joined as one larger home for larger gatherings.
With two very different aesthetic tastes to satisfy, establishing a common language that was the nexus of two apartments was critical. The lower level functions both independently and as one larger six-bedroom home, so linking the design palette for ‘minimal interior’ with ‘layered and tactile’ was the challenge.
Working with the contemporary nature of the architecture, our design integrated linear and horizontal elements to which tone and tactility were applied. In our response to the location we used premium quality, sustainable materials throughout, blending materials to establish boundaries but also to connect spaces. Polished concrete, natural and porcelain stone, fired clay tiles, custom steel mesh, textured veneer and solid oak timber cladding were all used to characterise and individualise the spaces.
